Betty L. (Jones) Radford, 72 of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 21, 2006 at her home. She was born April 7, 1934 in rural Malvern, IA at Whitesides to Lawrence and Marjorie (Johnson) Jones. Betty was raised near Malvern graduating with the Class of 1951. She later attended Barnes School of Cosmetology graduating in 1965. She was united in marriage to Rodney Max Radford on Jan. 25, 1953 at the Malvern United Methodist Church in Malvern. To this union three sons were born, Max, Randy and Reg.
Betty and Rodney made their home in rural Glenwood, where they raised their family and she was employed as a cosmetologist and later was a bookkeeper for Unitog until her retirement. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood. She was an avid birdwatcher and loved her flower garden. A dedicated wife and mother, she canned the fruits of her garden and sewed clothes for the entire family. A skilled seamstress she even made her sons prom jackets.
In addition to caring for her family and her work, Betty also volunteered with several charitable organizations throughout her life.
Preceding Betty in death were her parents and brothers: Larry Ross Jones and James Foster. Surviving Betty is her husband of 53 years, Rodney Radford of Glenwood, IA; sons: Max & wife Becky Radford of Glenwood, IA; Randy & wife Sheri Radford of Denver, CO; Reg Radford and friend Jenny Cheever of Glenwood, IA; grandchildren: Kendy LeMaster, Ryan Radford, Lucas Radford and Kyle Radford; great-grandchildren: Christian and Kira LeMaster; sisters: Lois Jurgens of Glenwood, IA; Carol Hohnholt of Omaha, NE; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
