Donald L. Blute

Donald L. Blute, 86, of Glenwood, Iowa (formerly of Sioux City, Iowa) passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 17, 2019. Donald was born on July 18, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa to Edward Leo and Ruth Marie (Copenhaver) Blute.

Donald was proud of being a veteran and faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict. He began his service as a member of the Air Force and finished in the Army Reserves.  He had many stories about his time spent as a pole lineman and mail carrier in Korea. After his time in the military, he was employed as a factory line operator for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Later, he worked for the Gerkin Window and Door Company until he retired.

He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at Burger King, watching westerns and listening to country music, especially Ray Price. Donald was witty but also had a serious side.  He was a prayerful man and would randomly stop everything he was doing to spend a moment with the Lord.

Preceding Donald in passing were his parents and an infant son, Joseph Blute. Survivors include his daughter Arlene and husband Thomas Belt of Glenwood; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A military service in honor of Donald will be held at the Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.
