Doris Elizabeth Phillips

Doris Elizabeth Phillips, 86 of Glenwood, IA entered into eternal rest on Sept. 20, 2013 in Council Bluffs, IA. Doris was born Feb. 18, 1927 in Henderson, IA to Archie & Sarah (Fisher) Phillips.

Doris was employed with Unitog for over 40 years. She was also a Foster Grandparent at the Glenwood Resource Center for many years. She loved to travel and had a large collection of owls, rocks and lighthouses. Doris took many vacations traveling by bus. In her spare time, Doris was a talented artist by making ceramics and painting. She adored children, animals and flowers of all varieties. Her kind and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Doris in death were her parents, sister, Iola Homan and brother, Robert Phillips. Survivors include her son, Gregory Phillips of Glenwood, IA: sister, Charlotte Atchison of Glenwood, IA; brother, Archie “Bud” Phillips of Challis, ID; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews; great-great nieces & nephews & one great-great-great nephew & many friends.

Interment will be held in the Martin Chapel Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

    I knew Doris from Glenwood Resource Center as she was a foster grandparent when I worked there. She was a nice lady and so kind to clients. Always enjoyed visiting with her. My deepest sympathy to her family.
