INTERMENT: Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

Dorothy Elizabeth “Dotty” Trask, 83, of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on May 22, 2008 at her home in Glenwood, Iowa. She was born December 15, 1924 in Tacoma, WA to George and Catherine (Sjoblom) Samuelson.

Dotty was raised in Tacoma and graduated from Stadium High School. Dotty was quite athletic and enjoyed playing on the high school tennis team. While living in Washington, she loved to dig for clams. She had a unique tidbit she shared with family and friends about her aunt, who happened to be one of the survivors on the Titanic. Her boarding ticket was the only one known to be salvaged. She was employed as a secretary and loved to attend U.S.O. dances, which is where she met her husband Hugh, who was serving his country during WWII. The couple united in marriage on June 14, 1947 in Tacoma. In 1950, Hugh’s job took them to Texas, where their daughter Diane Louise was born. They later moved to New Mexico where Jeffrey Hugh was born. The family relocated to Black River Falls, WI from 1953 to 1959. Dotty enjoyed being a homemaker and was an active Girl Scout Leader. In the fall of 1959, the family moved to Glenwood, IA. It was during this time that Hugh and Dotty became the owners of Coast to Coast, which is presently known as True Value and operated by their son Jeff. She was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church and U.M.W. She enjoyed golfing on Glenwood Ladies League and was a previous member of Business and Professional Women.

Preceding Dotty in death were her parents and sister Marian Glick. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 61 years, Hugh Trask of Glenwood, IA; daughter, Diane Louise Johnson of St. Paul, MN; Jeffrey Hugh Trask of Glenwood, IA; granddaughters, Jennifer Johnson and husband Chris Leck of Ft. Collins, CO; Amberly Trask of Austin, TX; sister, Helen Wallen of Tacoma, WA; and many friends.
