Emett Y. Stephens, 90, of Malvern, passed away September 15, 2012 at the Hospice with Heart facility in Glenwood, Iowa.

Emett was born December 2, 1921 in Mills County, Iowa to Claude and Truly Stephens. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1940 and was also a graduate of a business college in Chillicothe, Missouri.

On January 26, 1950 Emett was united in marriage to Betty Bullock in Omaha, Nebr. They made their home in Osceola, Iowa before moving to Malvern, Iowa. Emett and Betty were the parents of two children; Joyce and Chris. They were avid square dancers and belonged to numerous square dance clubs. Betty preceded Emett in death in 2008. Although failing in health Emett continued to be a dedicated Mills County farmer.

Survivors include his daughter Joyce Dorothy and husband, Jim of Keosauqua; and son Chris Stephens and wife, Cheryl of Malvern; two grandsons, Ethan and Garret Stephens, also of Malvern.
