Gayle G. Godsey, 97 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away on August 4, 2018 in Glenwood. She was born on November 8, 1920 in Bartlett, Iowa to John Henry and Alta Marine (Gibson) Schroeder. Following high school, she worked at the Martin Bomber Plant during WWII. She was united in marriage to James K. Godsey on November 3, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas. They made their home in Council Bluffs where they farmed for many years.

Gayle enjoyed all animals and could train them to do tricks. She enjoyed music and attended the Baptist Church in Arnold along with various churches throughout her life. Her Christian faith always sustained her. Gayle was a kind and loving person and her family was most important to her.

Preceding Gayle in passing were her parents, husband, infant son James K. Godsey and 11 siblings. Survivors include her children, Georgia (Darrol) Joy of Glenwood, Iowa; Costa (Glenn) Gaasvig of Glenwood, Iowa; Gayle Julianne (James) Sanders of Ogallala, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Interment, West Liberty Cemetery, rural Glenwood, Iowa.

    It was with great sadness that we heard of Gayle’s passing. She was an amazing women. We never visited or saw her without a smile and kind word. A truly wonderful lady and will be missed. Alan & Jeanie
