Harold Jay Jinings

Harold Jay Jinings, 89, of Bellevue NE formerly of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 14, 2012 at Florence Home in Omaha, NE. He was born June 13, 1923 on Sunny Bank farm in Minden, NE to Violet Beatrice (Larsen) and Harold Henry Jinings.

Harold attended school in Minden and Norfolk, NE. He graduated from Norfolk Vocational Training for Aircraft Sheet Metal on April 6, 1942. After his graduation he, his parents and younger brother moved to Bellevue, NE.

Harold was employed by the Martin Aircraft Company for about six months as a sheet-metal worker installing torpedo and bomb racks and radio unit racks in B-26 airplanes. He was inducted into the United States Army Air Force on March 30, 1943. He served his nation during WWII in England, France and Germany. He was honorably discharged on March 13, 1946.

After returning to Bellevue, NE, he was united in marriage to Cora Darlene Moore on April 6, 1947. To this union three children were born, Terry, Jacklyn and Jim. Harold resided and worked as a carpenter in Bellevue and raised horses on an acreage until 1966, when he then moved to a farm in Glenwood, IA. Harold was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Tangier Temple and the Christian Church in Bellevue. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family, fishing, hunting and rooting for his Husker football team. His favorite pastime was raising and showing his appaloosa horses.

Preceding Harold in death were his parents, wife and grandson, Jason Jinings. He is survived by his children, Terry & wife DeAnne Jinings of Plattsmouth, NE; Jacklyn & husband Donald Yates of Glenwood, IA; Jim & wife Terry Jinings of Pacific Junction, IA; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Gene & wife Eileen Jinings of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
