Hilda Johanna Bichel, 99, of Glenwood, IA, formerly of Silver City, IA entered into eternal rest on Sept. 13, 2011 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born April 30, 1912 in Mills County, IA to Charles and Christina (Roenfeldt) Schroeder.

Hilda grew up on the farm and was united in marriage to Ferdinand Louis Bichel on January 27, 1932. To this union five children were born: Joann, Charles, Larry, James and Richard. Hilda was employed with Glenwood Resource Center until her retirement. A longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, Hilda enjoyed playing cards and gardening, and she loved her animals.

Preceding Hilda in death were her parents, husband and five siblings. She is survived by her children: Joann Bock of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Charles & wife Bernadean Bichel of Carson, IA; Larry & wife Cheryl Bichel of Glenwood, IA; James Bichel and Lynda Uleman of Elkhorn, NE; Richard Bichel of Independence, MO. She is also survived by 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; brother, Harry Schroeder of Boise, ID; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

    So Sorry for your loss. Glad I had the chance to see Hilda and your Family at the Bichel Reunion. She seemed to doing well that day, glad she had the opportunity to attend the Reunion.

    You were such an amazing & strong woman. You leave me with so many memories and I will never forget your beautiful smile, wonderful personality, and I can’t forget those yummy cookies (my favorite!) you always made me!
