Kenneth James “Bud” Hammers, 92 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Littleton, Colorado passed away on February 21, 2019 in Glenwood. He was born on September 19, 1926 in rural Mills County, Iowa to Oliver James and Leona Joy (Anthony) Hammers. Following high school, Bud faithfully served his country in the Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. While in the service he attended electrical training.

Bud was united in marriage to Ellyn Belle Dusenberry on August 3, 1947 in Glenwood, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Steven and Krystine. Bud was employed as a Post Master for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1971, Bud became interested in antique Plymouth cars. He was a talented carpenter making cradles as the grandchildren came along and hand crafted ironing boards for his family. He and his companion Betty enjoyed traveling and dancing together.

Preceding Bud in passing were his parents, wife Ellyn in 1997 and infant daughter, Patricia Ann Hammers. Survivors include his children, Steven (Thea) Hammers of Greely, Colorado; Krystine Hammers of Chandler, Arizona; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; significant other, Betty Wolfe of Glenwood, Iowa; sister, Carol Eichelberger of Glenwood, Iowa; nieces, Kay LeFever (Linus) of Glenwood, Iowa; Elaine (Larry) Olsen of Colorado; nephew, Larry (Penny) Eichelberger; extended relatives and many friends.

Interment, Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church.

    Condolences to all my family and friends of Bud. We will all miss this truly wonderful and very gifted man.
