Leonard John Wingerd, 71 of Glenwood, Iowa entered into rest at his home in Glenwood, Iowa. He was born on November 12, 1946 in Adrian, Michigan to Jacob John and Sarah (Hunt) Wingerd. The family moved to Pacific Junction in 1952 and shortly thereafter to Glenwood during the flood. He started first grade in Pacific Junction then began attending school in Glenwood graduating from the Class of 1964.

He met and married Barbara Kay Strand on May 3, 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Michael, Marcia and Michelle.

Leonard worked several jobs in his younger years learning many trades, one being wood working. He enjoyed making wooden doll cradles, toy boxes (one like a barn), tables and chairs along with many other treasures for his grandchildren.

Leonard began working part time at the Pacific Junction post office in 1986, which turned into full time in 1996 until his retirement in 2012.

Preceding Leonard in passing were his parents and brother Warren Jay Wingerd. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wingerd of Glenwood, Iowa; children, Michael (Kelly) Wingerd of Glenwood, Iowa; Marcia (Mike) Hopp of Essex, Iowa; Michelle (Tim) Runyon of Hastings, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pam Marshall, Becky Foster and Kim Rocha all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Annette Mackey of Colorado; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
