Margaret Matilda (Graalfs) Lincoln passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 24, 2018 at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood. She was born on the family farm five miles north of Glenwood July 12, 1928 to Gustave Henry and Lydia Louise (Torneten) Graalfs in a German community. She attended country school West Liberty #1 with her older sister, Esther and younger brother Donald.

Margaret attended Glenwood High School and enjoyed activities and school dances with a circle of friends. She graduated with the Class of 1945. Margaret met Dean on a blind date while attending a dance. Their relationship blossomed and were united in marriage on June 16, 1946. They moved to a farm south of Pacific Junction. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Larry, Dennis and Mark. They farmed there until 1952. When Dean’s parents Roy and Mae retired, they relocated to the Lincoln homeplace and enjoyed farming there until retirement in 1999.

In spite of having no internet, Wi-Fi, or Facebook, they enjoyed playing cards monthly with five other couples. They had good times at the Pacific Junction Community Club’s ice cream socials, wedding and anniversary celebrations.

Margaret was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, choir and Jolly Women’s Club. She was a talented quilter, loved being with her family and dancing in the arms of her husband of 72 years.

Preceding Margaret in passing were her parents, sister Esther Corrin, brother Donald Graalfs and grandson Matthew Dean Lincoln. Survivors include her children, Larry (Karen) Lincoln of rural Pacific Junction, Iowa; Dennis (Susan) Lincoln of rural Pacific Junction, Iowa; Mark (Nancy) Lincoln of rural Glenwood, Iowa; grandchildren Clay (Brooke) Lincoln, Amy (Charles) Larsen, Alan (Jessica) Lincoln, Nick (Whitney) Lincoln, Jill (Tyler) Shugart, Nate Lincoln; great-grandchildren Preston, Collin, Hallee, Abigail, Grayson, Landon, Sydney and Emma; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Dear Lincoln Family All, I’m so sorry to know of Margaret’s death. She was a delightful person to know, a spirited woman, ad and a strong Christian witness for all who knew her. I was with my O’Neill relatives just last week and we were remembering the Lincoln’s and wonder how Dean And Margaret were getting along in old age. May you have the comfort and hope that she gave you, and my the Lord bless and keep you in his continuing care. “Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His faithful ones.”
