Ruth Anne Tucker was the only child of her parents, Harold E. and Fern M. (Stivers) Tucker. In her early childhood it was recognized that Ruth Anne had memory skills and verbal skills but was unable to read and was mentally challenged in reasoning. As a result, she lived with her parents until her mother passed away in 1985. For 26 years she functioned well and was happy to live in assisted care homes in Council Bluffs and Harlan, Iowa. Following a surgery, Ruth Anne was relocated to Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, Iowa in 2011 where she happily resided until her death.

Ruth Anne is best remembered for her infectious smile and jovial personality. Always happy to visit with others and most proud of her extended family members. Among her favorite food and snacks were popcorn, butterscotch candy and pecan pie. She had a great memory of everyone in her extended family and could promptly recite the exact dates of everyone’s birthday, marriage and death. She was our family recorder. For entertainment she enjoyed paint by number, participating in all Glen Haven crafts and trips to the Circus, Walmart, etc. Ruth Anne often entertained herself by looking at paperback books and circling the names and words she did know and find-a-word books.

She was baptized into membership of the First Christian Church in Glenwood at an early age. She held strong to her faith in Jesus Christ throughout her life. When family came to visit, she most often would ask us to hold hands and pray.

Those who knew Ruth Anne will not doubt that she was a loving person, infectiously happy and would light up a room with her presence. Her grandmother, Nina Stivers always said “Ruth Anne may not be all right, but she’s not all wrong.” Our lives were all made better for having known and loving her. May she now be fully renewed and received into her heavenly home.

Ruth Anne was preceded in passing by her parents. Survivors include Aunt Betty Stivers; Cousins Richard Lincoln, Larry Stivers, Kim (Mary) Stivers, Marty (Lisa) Stivers, Gaylen Hunt, Wess (Toni) Hunt, Jean Lincoln, extended relatives and friends.

Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to Glen Haven Village.
