Shirley Lee Stevens, 75 of Malvern, IA, entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2005 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born Nov. 16, 1929 in Climax, IA to Bryce Cummings & Doris (Hunt) Cummings-Wilson. Shirley graduated from Great Bend Kansas High School. She was united in marriage Feb. 25, 1950 in Glenwood, IA to Frank Oliver Stevens. Following marriage the couple moved to the farm southeast of Malvern. To this union three children were born, Lee Warren, Michael David, & Julie Ann. Shirley loved visiting her family and going on adventures with her sister Doloris. She was a talented still life painter, enjoyed raising animals, played scrabble and did crossword puzzles. Reading gave her great pleasure. She loved being with her grandchildren and it was shared by her family that she always knew the proper etiquette and was an awesome cook. The family shared many fond memories of vacations to Leech Lake in Walker, MN at the Birchwood Resort for many years. She loved the tranquility of the water, listening to the loons and gathering around the campfire for fish fries and picnics. Her love of nature was shown by her enjoyment of feeding and watching the birds, especially the cardinals. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sister Peggy DiLeo. She is survived by her husband Frank of Malvern, children Lee & wife Teresa Stevens & their children Andrea Belt, Scott Stevens, & Paul Stevens of Malvern, IA; Michael & wife Denise Stevens & their children Aaron Stevens, Jessica & husband James McCain of Phoenix, Arizona; Julie & husband Brian Bailey & their daughter Victoria Hopkinson of Council Bluffs, IA; two great-grandchildren; sisters Delores & husband Jerry Morgal of Malvern, IA; Jackie & husband Boyd Marsing of Reno, NV; brother John & wife Diane Wilson of Davenport, IA; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
