  • Les & Karen Jonnson Posted April 20, 2011 12:00 am

Our heartfelt sympathies to Delores, Bob, girls and family. We wish we could get back down home to support you in person, but know we thinking of you just the same. I recall our nice visits last fall at our Glenwood 50-yr Class of 1960 reunion and sharing the pride in our children and families. We can only imagine the pain in losing one of our children and the shock of Sunday’s phone call. I joined the Masonic Lodge and became a 3rd Degree Master Mason just a couple of weeks ago. I never met Tom but know a Brother Mason’s faith has him in a good place for ever more. Please let me or any of our classmates know if there is anything we can do for you.

  • Jane Briley Posted April 20, 2011 12:00 am

Tommy was a great guy, friendly and generous. Whenever I saw him around town he would come over and visit. Whenever we bumped into each other at the local restaurants he would join me and we had such wonderful conversations about his family. He expressed how much he loved his parents, sisters, and nephews and nieces. I also can relate how much he cared for everyone he connected with. I know that even his cousins in town thought of him as I did. Heaven will welcome him but we will miss him.

    Smile Because He Lived

You can shed tears that he is gone,

or you can smile because he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back,

or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him,

or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,

or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him only that he is gone,

or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,

be empty and turn your back,

or you can do what he’d want:

Smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.

He was one of the nicest, kindest, giving persons we have ever met. Dale and Carolyn

  • Billi Vavra Posted April 21, 2011 12:00 am

I will never forgot Tom. He left his mark on everyone that he came in contact with. He helped me diagnose many car problems over the last 7 years and I will miss our talks that we had outside of the motel in Lincoln.

  • Rhonda Adams Nielsen Posted April 21, 2011 12:00 am

Tommy was the best friend anyone could possibly hope to have in life. He left his mark on life and anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him, will never forget him. My most sincere condolences to his beloved family.

  • Rick & Linda Nelson & Family Posted April 21, 2011 12:00 am

We were so shocked to learn of Tommy’s tragic death. Rick worked with him on the BNSF and he became part of “our family” for a time a few years ago. He liked to come to our farm and help with the calves & horses. But most of all he enjoyed our grandchildren, especially “Kettie”. We have pictures of him leading her around on her pony. He was a wonderful person & we will miss him,but he is only a memory away.

  • Ben and Susan Carmichael Posted April 22, 2011 12:00 am

Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you! Tom was a wonderful person and he will always hold a special place in our hearts. It seems like yesterday when he dropped everything and came down to help us finish Sally’s apartment on his vacation. He was a kind and giving person and I know God welcomed him home with open arms! We love all of you and wish we could be with you as you go through this trying time!

    Love,

    Ben and Susie

  • Jon Carroll Posted April 22, 2011 12:00 am

When it came to cars Tommy was relentless in diagnosing a problem, he helped me several times. Tommy was also a proud member and President of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 642. Rest in peace Tommy and HIGHBALL, YA LOOKED GOOD ON THIS SIDE

  • Marlin Hiller Posted April 22, 2011 12:00 am

Words are often insufficient to express our thoughts and feelings. I have been thinking about how I might feel if one of my boys passed, suddenly and apparently in a senseless way. I can’t really. But I do want you to know that I am thinking of you and hope that the pain will pass, quickly if possible.

  • Brian J.Moore Posted April 22, 2011 12:00 am
