William (Bill) Stivers

William John “Bill” Stivers, 88 of Corona, CA formerly of Glenwood, IA and Mesa, AZ entered into rest on Oct. 9, 2013 in Corona, CA. He was born Aug. 2, 1925 in Glenwood, IA to William C. & Helen (Schnider) Stivers.

Bill faithfully served his country in the Navy on submarines in the South Pacific during WWII from 1944-46. He was united in marriage to Delores Lorraine Ellis on March 16, 1947 in Hastings, IA. To this union two children were born, Judy and Ron. Bill was employed with the power company for 36 years. He was a past longtime resident of Glenwood and was a member of the Glenwood Fire Department for 35 years and past commander of the Glenwood American Legion.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents, 2 sisters, infant brother and infant sister. Survivors include his wife, Delores Stivers of Corona, CA; children, Judy and husband Richard Martin of Plattsmouth, NE; Ron and wife Rita Stivers of Corona, CA; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

Interment with military rites will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
