INTERMENT: Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa
Alice I. Maiers, 75, of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest on May 16, 2010 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born July 21, 1934 in Henderson, Iowa to Carl Oscar & Bonnie Mae (Bishop) Anderson. She was raised in Malvern, Iowa graduating from Malvern High School in 1951. While in high school she was known as the “Ping Pong Champion”.
Alice was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Maiers on August 1, 1953 at Holy Family Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union five children were born, Debbie, Rhonda, Laurie, Terri and John. Alice loved her family and enjoyed being a mom and attending her children’s many activities throughout the years, which carried over to her grandchildren as well. She sewed numerous clothes not only for her children, but also for their dolls. Alice loved to shop and go out to eat, along with flower gardening and decorating her home for all to enjoy. She had a butterfly and rosary collection and would often be seen wearing a butterfly pin on her shoulder. She had an endearing heart for children and shared her love with all of them. Alice was employed as a librarian at Kid’s Place, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Alice was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Church in Glenwood. She organized countless dinners and remained active throughout her lifetime. Even though her life on earth has ended, we can think of Alice when we see a butterfly and know that she now has a new beginning in heaven.
