Berniece (Nelson) Lostroh, 79 of Glenwood, Iowa passed away December 30th, 2020 in Smithville, Missouri surrounded by family and her beloved dog Kemo. She was born December 7, 1941 in Corning, Iowa to Virgil and Laverne (Wortman) Nelson. She had one brother (Robert), Berniece was raised in Corning and together as a family they worked hard on their farm to raise cattle, chickens, bale hay and plant crops.
Berniece graduated from Corning High School (1959). Following graduation from high school Berniece attended nurses’ training in Council Bluffs, Iowa and became a Registered Nurse. Berniece was employed as a nurse in the Emergency Room at CHI Mercy Hospital for more than 40 years. She was known to be very passionate about her job. Berniece loved helping her patients and working diligently with co-workers.
Berniece was united in marriage to William Conard Lostroh (Bill) on April 8, 1965 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Ann and Michael.
Berniece loved her family and friends & enjoyed the time they had together. She always enjoyed the monthly get-togethers with the group of her fellow classmates.
She was an avid quilter, loved the outdoors, enjoyed animals, going to the casino, and watching sports. She enjoyed raising and showing Horses with Bill and the children on their home just outside of Glenwood, Iowa.
Preceding Berniece in passing were her parents, husband & brother Robert.
Berniece is survived by Her son, (Michael Lostroh), Daughter in law (Michelle), Her Grandchildren, Great grandchildren and many other friends and family..
Interment, Oakland Cemetery, Quincy Township, rural Adams County, Iowa.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Bernie was a fabulous woman and nurse… I have missed her for years…
Thank you Berniece for being the best mother in law to me. You threw no punches always told the truth and would give your right hand to help someone if ever asked. You always had my back. I will miss Christmas eve’s that we had and the numerous vacations that we took together. I will treasure all the memories. Thank you for everything! .

So sorry to hear about Bernie. I know her because of 3 yrs nurse school. I feel she is happy & comfortable again.
