Beth Hix, 80 of Pacific Junction, IA, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 24, 2006 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born June 5, 1926 in Osceola, IA to Earl & Loretta (Lane) Baker. Beth received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Guam and a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska.
Beth was united in marriage to Marvin C. Hix on Jan. 15, 1946 in Roswell, N.M. To this union five children were born, Gwendolyn, Vita, Leland, Dale and Eldon.
Beth was a registered nurse for 25 years. She also enjoyed tutoring students who needed extra help in school. Numerous students benefited from her dedication both in Texas and Council Bluffs. Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, raising gladiolas, vegetables, canning, woodworking, macram̩ work, and ceramics. She was in the choir in Council Bluffs for over 14 years. Singing brought her great joy. Beth was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Glenwood.
Preceding her in death was her grandson Robert Brewer.
Beth is survived by her husband Marvin Hix of Pacific Junction, IA; children: Gwendolyn Lanelle Brooks of Detroit, MI; Vita & husband Don Fuss of Ponca City, OK; Leland & wife Jill Hix of Eau Claire, WI; Dale & wife Darlene Hix of Pacific Junction, IA; Eldon & wife Mary Hix of Lee’s Summit, MO; sister: Margaret Hatley of Pullman, WA; grandchildren: Justin Brooks, Robert J. Brooks, Teresa Rowell, Rodney Brewer, JoAnna Haugen, Rebecca Hix, Nathan Hix, Melissa Hix, Patrick Hix and numerous great-grandchildren.
