Cecil Ward Hunt, 92 of Silver City, Iowa entered into rest on October 11, 2017 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born on July 8, 1925 in Mills County, Iowa to Richard Cecil and Evelyn Marie (Williams) Hunt. Following his schooling he began his farming career. He faithfully served his country in the Navy during WWII receiving a purple heart for wounds received as a result of enemy action in the Asiatic-Pacific area on October 13, 1944. Ward was united to Catherine Jane Skerritt on February 11, 1951 in Silver City, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Rodney and Sheila. The family resided on their farm east of Silver City.
Ward had a passion for purchasing new pickups and loved the shiny chrome. He was a member of the Silver City American Legion. Ward enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast and spending time with his family.
Preceding Ward in passing were his parents and wife, Catherine. Survivors include his children, Rod and wife Lori Hunt of Malvern, Iowa; Sheila Hunt of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Brenna and husband Jason Brown of Portland, Oregon; Quincy Hunt of Bellevue, Nebraska; one great-grandson, Finnegan Hunt; brother, Bill Hunt of Silver City, Iowa; niece, Pam and husband Dale Sargent of Pacific Junction, Iowa; extended relatives and many friends.
Interment will be held in the Silver City Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Silver City United Methodist Church, Silver City Fire and Rescue or Malvern Fire and Rescue.

I’m sorry for your loss. Ward was such a very
nice man.
All our sympathy to Ward’s family. He was so nice and welcoming when I visited. Even took me to his favorite spot – Cascio’s for dinner. He will be missed.
Paul and I send our condolences to Rod and Sheila and the rest of the family…..bus mates from long ago. Ward and Kate were very special people.
