Chester Gene “Brownie” Sellers, 86 of Glenwood, IA entered into eternal rest on April 15, 2013 in Glenwood, IA. He was the third child born on June 11, 1926 to Melvin & Letha (Harvey) Sellers.
Chet faithfully served his country during WWII in the Army. He was united in marriage to Melva Nadine Hiley on Nov. 2, 1946 in Hiawatha, KS. To this union four children were born, Virginia, Lois, Leonard and Lou Anne. He farmed, worked for the packing plant & later for Unitog until his retirement. In his spare time, he was a talented woodworker. He made each of his granddaughters a hope chest and did several projects for numerous customers. Chet always enjoyed visiting & spending time with his family & friends.
Preceding Chet in death were his parents, daughter, Lois Sapp, 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Melva Sellers of Glenwood, IA; children, Virginia & husband Gene Sheets of Glenwood, IA: Leonard & wife Jenny Sellers of Fremont, NE; Lou Anne & husband Ben Hastings of Glenwood, IA; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, James & wife Susie Sellers of Oskaloosa, IA; Larry & wife Kathy Sellers of Cedar Rapids, IA: sisters, Dorothy Pugh of Oskaloosa, IA: Ann & husband Jim Dale of Weaver, IA: several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
Interment & military rites will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery following the service.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice With Heart, First Christian Church or Glenwood Sr. Center.
