Connie P. (Shutts) Criswell, 95, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Glenwood, Iowa, entered rest on January 10, 2010 at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born March 18, 1914 in Thurman, Iowa.

Connie was employed at the Ordinance Defense Plant during WWII in Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage to O.J. Eckles and to this union four children were born, Berneida, Ken, Karen, and Judy. She later married Paul Criswell and their son, Paul Stephen was born. After moving to Glenwood, Connie was a waitress at several local cafes and eventually managed the West Side CafÌ©. In 1957, she went to work at the Glenwood State Hospital School retiring in 1979. Connie loved going to the horse races and had the opportunity to co-own two race horses named Cora’s Award “Corky” and Jimmie Purk. She enjoyed helping raise and care for her grandchildren and loved going to the park for family picnics.

Preceding Connie in death were her parents, husband, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 3 daughters and 1 grandson. She is survived by her children; Ken & wife Donna Eckles of Omaha, NE; Paul Stephen Criswell of Glenwood, IA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
