Connie Rae (Jewell) McVay, 76 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Henderson, Iowa and Modale, Iowa passed away surrounded by her family on February 25, 2021 in Glenwood. She was born March 12, 1944 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to James Kenneth “Bud” and Bessie (Scott) Jewell.
Connie was united in marriage to Delbert Lee McVay on December 23, 1961 in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Mark, Mike, Matt and Mara. Connie went back to college at the same time her son Mike was attending. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Sociology utilizing her skills as a consultant at the Glenwood Resource Center and Con Agra. Connie was a devoted Christian and lay speaker at several churches and care facilities throughout the years. She enjoyed attending tractor pulls, swimming at The Y, cooking and eating good food. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Preceding Connie in passing were her parents, husband, granddaughter AnneMarie McVay, sisters Patsy Jewell, Marilyn Ricker and Diana Jewell. Survivors include her children Mark (Nancy) McVay of Glenwood, Iowa; Mike (Diana) McVay of Sioux City, Iowa; Matt (Tracy) McVay of Ladson, South Carolina; Mara (Antawn) Hunt of Glenwood, Iowa; 12 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren, sister Beverly Jewell of Glenwood, Iowa; sister-in-law Bev (Carroll) Duysen of Emerson, Iowa; extended relatives and friends.
Interment, Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

I have known Connie for a long time, she will be missed by many. My condolences to each one of her children and their families that she held close to her heart. RIP Connie..
I am so very sorry for your loss. Connie was so kind and fun to be with and generous of her time for others. I will be forever grateful for her helping me with my mom and her genuine kindness. We were so Blessed to share special times with her and her beautiful granddaughter Anne Marie. I know they are together once again and cherishing Gods loveI I also have great memories of our times together in church and 4H. I will be out of town and am so sorry I can’t be there but know I will be thinking of you all and keeping you in our prayers.
So sorry to hear about Connie’s passing. One of the nicest person I have ever known. Everyone that knew her were blessed.
