Danny was born on August 8, 1928 in Malvern, Iowa to Frank Leroy and Lillian Lucille (Dunn) Zanders.  He was raised in Malvern and graduated from Malvern High School. Danny was drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees Baseball Club, and played for the Fond du Lac Wisconsin Panthers in the Yankee farm system. His playing time was interrupted when he was drafted into the Korean War. Upon his return, he married Genelle Marie Stevens on May 31, 1953. Danny and Genelle had two sons, Kent and Kurt. They moved from Malvern to Omaha in 1992 where Danny taught Biology and Earth Science at Omaha South High School continuing a 33 year career in education. He was a lifetime member of the Nebraska Education Association.  He remained a member of the Malvern United Methodist Church.

Danny was a talented woodcarver and many of his carvings were of waterfowl, geese, ducks and pheasants displaying his love of nature and animals. He loved his teaching career and even years after retirement former students would recognize him around Omaha and compliment him on his teaching abilities. He was a devoted family man, friend and educator and will be deeply missed.

    Kent and family,
I wish I could have met your father, all I know is he raised a heck of a son, so he had to be a wonderful man to be around! I know he will be missed, but by the sounds of his full life, he will never be forgotten. Please accept my prayers for life eternal and memories of your dad to comfort you all forever! Thinking of you all during this time of grief.
