Darlene I. Stille, 98, of Glenwood, IA entered into eternal rest on April 1, 2012 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born Dec. 27, 1913 in Mills County, IA to Ernest Heinrich & Anna Catherine (Lohse) Timmerman. Darlene was a graduate of Glenwood High School with the Class of 1931. She was united in marriage to Alfred Benjamin Stille on May 24, 1933 in rural Pacific Junction, IA. To this union two sons were born, Alfred and Richard.
Darlene was a lifetime resident of the Glenwood area where she became a teacher/farmwife from 1933 and retired in May of 1989. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Glenwood and was active in several church organizations. Darlene was a Charter member of AWOL Club, Charter member of Mills County Genealogical Society, Iowa Genealogical Society, and Lifetime member of Mills County Historical Society. Darlene enjoyed genealogy, reading and embroidery work.
Preceding Darlene in death were her parents, husband Alfred in 1993, infant sister, Helen in 1915 and sister, Dorothy Benincosa in 1997. She is survived by her sons, Alfred B. Stille, Jr. & wife Marguarite of Roanoke, VA; Richard W. Stille of Glenwood, IA; Grandchildren, Ryan J. & wife Rebecca Stille of Fairfax, VA; Eric G. & wife Trina of Glenwood, IA; Tricia A. & husband Alan Downie of Roanoke, VA; Alan K. Stille of Scottsdale, AZ; Great-Grandchildren, Carson Michael Stille, Parker Stille & Max Stille of Oakton, VA; Victoria Grace Downie & Sofia Grace Downie of Roanoke, VA; Lauryn Elizabeth Stille of Glenwood, IA & sister, R. Phyllis Decker of Junction City, KS; extended relatives and many friends.
There will be open visitation at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood, Iowa.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Glenwood Public Library.
