Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Loess Hills Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
Debbie “Deb” Mintle, 62, of Glenwood, IA, formerly of Auburn, NE, entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2011 in Omaha, NE. She was born October 18, 1948 in Auburn, NE to Jack & Henrietta (Millet) Conn. Deb graduated from Auburn High School and earned her teaching degree from Peru State College. She was united in marriage to Justin (Judd) Howard Mintle on July 18, 1970 in Auburn. The couple made their home in Glenwood. To this union two daughters were born, Kristen and Jennifer.
Being with family and friends was most important to her. From large family gatherings to having Friday date night with Judd, she never took them for granted. Deb enjoyed her yearly summer trips to the Ozarks and boating on the Missouri River, as well as driving with her sister, Linda Oestmann to Austin, TX to visit her daughters.
With her meticulous attention to detail, she began some new hobbies by making quilts and dolls. Deb also loved driving her red Mini Cooper with the top down and feeling the wind in her hair and listening to jazz music. Animals were dear to her heart, and she briefly volunteered at the Loess Hills Humane Society before the progression of her illness prevented her to do so. During the last couple of months of her life, Judd put up bird feeders in the backyard. She enjoyed watching the different types of birds that would feed.
She attended the First Christian Church in Council Bluffs, which gave her strength and courage to face life’s challenges, and she did this with grace and dignity.
Deb taught elementary school for the Glenwood School District for 34 years until her retirement in 2005.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but will never be forgotten.
Preceding Deb in death was her mother, Henrietta and brother-in-law, Kenny Oestmann. She is survived by her husband, Justin (Judd) Mintle of Glenwood, IA; daughters, Kristen Mintle of Glenwood, IA; Jennifer Mintle and son-in-law, Ray Vargas of Lanai, HI; father, Jack Conn of Auburn, NE; brother, Galen & wife Marna Conn of De Witt, NE; sister, Linda Oestmann of Auburn, NE; brother-in-law, Ted & wife Lyn Mintle of Glenwood, IA: several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.

Judd, Kristen and Jenni,
I am so sorry for your loss. I taught with Deb at NE several years ago and have good memories of working with her. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Our deepest sympathy to your family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Deb was a wonderful lady and will be missed by all.
You have our deepest sympathy during this time of loss to your family. Your wife and mother will be missed but find comfort with the fact she no longer is suffering. Take hold of all the happy memories you created together as a family during this time.
Dear Jenn and family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss!!! You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I will always remember Deb as a beautiful, fun woman with a warm smile. I remember her and Judd dealing cards on Casino Night, and certainly always being “fun parents” to hang out with! Deb was also there for me when I needed her 3 years ago, and has left a wonderful legacy by raising two great girls. God Bless. Erin and family
I didn’t know Mrs. Mintle beyond school. I do remember, however, how much she comforted me through the use of sympathy and humor when I got braces on my teeth as a young child by telling me of her experiences with them in her youth. I will never forget how much that meant to me. My sympathies to her family, friends, and other loved ones.
Jenni, Judd, and Kristen,
I am so sorry to hear of Deb’s passing. Her smile was contagious. Praying for comfort for each of you.
