Delbert Lee McVay, 71 of Glenwood, IA was born Oct. 4, 1941 in Mills County, IA to Acie & Pearl (Gage) McVay in Mills County, IA. Delbert entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Dec. 2, 2012 at his home in rural Glenwood, IA. He was raised in the Henderson area graduating from Henderson High School in 1959.
Delbert was united in marriage to Connie Rae Jewell on Dec. 23, 1961 in Red Oak, IA. To this union four children were born, Mark, Mike, Matt and Mara. The family resided in Silver City before moving to Glenwood in 1981. Delbert was a self-employed truck driver. He belonged to the Southwest Iowa Antique Tractor Pullers and was an avid tractor puller receiving numerous awards.
Preceding Delbert in death was his parents, sister, Genevieve Albright and granddaughter, AnneMarie McVay. He is survived by his wife, Connie McVay of Glenwood, IA; children, Mark & Nancy McVay of Glenwood, IA; Mike & Diana McVay of Onawa, IA; Matt & Tracy McVay of Glenwood, IA; Mara & Antawn Hunt of Silver City, IA: 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Bev & husband Carroll Duyson of Emerson, IA; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
Interment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
