To the McCarty family:
I’m still getting over the shock of the call I just received about Denny’s death. I think I’ve known Denny between 25-30 years and I will miss him even though we have had less than frequent contact in the last year or so. When I lived in Omaha we used to pal around and then kept in touch while he lived in Denver and Kansas City and back to Omaha. He loved to come to Phoenix to visit and one of the last conversations we had a few months back was about him coming to visit me in my new home. I thought about him over the weekend and wished he were here or on his way to visit.
I’m sorry about this loss to the McCarty family. Denny was a truly execeptional person. I wish I could make the trip to be there to say goodbye in person, but am unable to do so. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Denny was a dear and loved friend.
I just saw Denny two weeks ago and we had plans to get together soon for some golf etc.
I will always remember the two trips we took to Lake Tahoe together. It was a lot of high speed driving out and back but a great time seeing the sites and biking and gambling and seeing the shows.
We took my 71 Mach 1 the first time and his Firebird 400 Trans AM the second. We played a lot of Poker together.
WE loved him and he will be greatly missed.
Denny is still in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. I worked with Denny at Northwestern Bell and many times afterward in my various businesses. He will be missed. My condolences to the McCarty family. May God Bless you.
“Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am the birds that sing
I am in each gentle thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.”

My deepest sympathy to the McCarty family. I had last spoken with Denny when I came to Omaha last December to visit my daughter, husband and grandkids. We always stayed in touch and would enjoy an evening dinner or lunch, whether it was in Omaha or Phoenix. We had been friends for many years. We worked @ the phone company in the past and played golf as well when I lived in Omaha. We had so much fun and always enjoyed getting together. Denny had a wit and great sense of humor. He enjoyed the antique and classic car shows here in Phoenix and loved the PGA tournament events. We always got together to share adventures with his vacation time here. He was truly a dear friend and he will be missed by so many that cared and loved him. It was a shock and disbelief when I heard the news. He had so many wonderful years ahead of him. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you at this most difficult time. I will remember how much he really enjoyed life and what a special friend he was. May he rest in peace now that he is in God’s hands. As I know, he left footprints in the hearts of all that knew him. Blessings to all.
