Donald Kenneth McMahan, 70, of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2005 at his home in Glenwood, Iowa. He was born April 25, 1935 in Glenwood to Kenneth Swarts & Elizabeth Emilie Sophia (Biermann) McMahan. He was baptized in the St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola. Don was raised in Silver City, where he graduated from Silver City High School with the class of 1952. He faithfully served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Military Police. Don was employed with Glenwood Resource Center as a maintenance engineer until his retirement.
Being outdoors, fishing, hunting, participating in softball and being a sports fan were just a few of Don’s pleasures in life. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed taking his dog, also known as his jump seat companion, Jelly Bean for rides to the park everyday.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth. He is survived by his father, Kenneth McMahan of Silver City, Iowa, wife and loving companion, Patricia McMahan of Glenwood, Iowa, children, Susie Hansen of Glenwood, Iowa, Michael McMahan of Glenwood, Iowa, Beth & husband Rick Anderson of Reno, Nevada, Jackie Johnson of Glenwood, Iowa, Gary & wife Michelle Johnson of Glenwood, Iowa, sister, Dolores Marie & husband Marion Ellis of Phoenix, AZ, brother, Thomas David & wife Linda McMahan of Buena Vista, CO, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
