Don Ord, 87, of Council Bluffs, IA, formerly of Glenwood, IA, entered into eternal rest on September 28, 2007 in Council Bluffs. He was born March 22, 1920 in Page, NE to George, Sr. and Mary (Batten) Ord.
Don faithfully served his country during WWII in the Navy and along with his brother, was on an air craft carrier, USS Block Island. He was united in marriage to Bette Smith and to this union two daughters were born, Carolyn and Donetta. Don was a co-owner and operator of the Ord Brothers Grocery Store in Silver City, IA for many years. They also owned laundry mat businesses in various surrounding towns for several years. Don later married Helen and assisted her in purchasing a laundry business which is now known as Ring Cleaners. His memberships included Silver City American Legion and Eagles. He loved to fish, golf, dance and take vacations and he always enjoyed being with his family.
Preceding Don in death were his parents, wife Helen, grandsons, Todd Konfrst and Ryan Montoya, brothers and sisters, George Ord, Jr., Roy Ord, Bob Ord, John Ord, Ella Mae Harper, Alta Ann Kaczor and Ellen Harper. He is survived by his daughters, Caroyln & husband Richard Montoya of Longmont, CO; Donetta & husband Mike Konfrst of Glenwood, IA; 2 grandchildren, Scott & wife LeAnn Konfrst of Glenwood, IA; Lori & husband Mike Malcom of Glenwood, IA; 6 great-grandchildren, step-children, Linda, Richard, and Susie, brothers and sisters, Jerry Ord of Silver City, IA; Jim Ord of Glenwood, IA; Harvey Ord of Council Bluffs, IA; Marie Wickham of Colorado Springs, CO; Margaret Smith of San Diego, CA; Lois Lintner of South Carolina; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
