Donald Wayne Houser, 93, passed away at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 21, 2024. Don was one of five children born on January 14, 1931 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Boe Ellsworth and Hazel Ellen (Clark) Houser. He grew up in the Malvern area and graduated from Malvern High School in 1948. He attended Northern Illinois State Teachers College prior to earning his Bachler of Science Degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1952. He later took graphics art classes at Iowa Western Community College.
Don faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict for two years before returning to Malvern. In 1956, Don was united in marriage to Florence Hafer on September 2, 1956 in the Silver City Methodist Church. They moved to Glenwood, Iowa in 1961 and became members of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 141 and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He worked for the Malvern Leader, Omaha World Herald, Blacker Printing, Sun Newspaper and United States Postal Service in Glenwood.
Preceding Don in passing were his parents, brother Carol Houser; sisters Jean O’Dell, Janet Hites and Marilyn Houser.
Survivors include his loving wife Florence Houser of Glenwood, Iowa; sons, Mike (Ruth) Houser of Glenwood, Iowa; Neil (Kim) Houser of Malvern, Iowa; Dan (Kelly) Houser and Steve (Vicky) Houser all of Glenwood, Iowa. Grandchildren; Connor and Katie Houser, Zach and Corrin Halbert, Ivan and McKenzie Houser; Jason and Robin Houser; Marcus and Ashley Houser; Dustin and Samantha Houser; Seth and Bailey Houser; Kenna, Seth and Blaine Houser; Amanda and Ryan Defousa and 12 great-grandchildren.
Interment at a later date; Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
Memorial donations may be directed to: Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood, Iowa or Harvey T. Rimel American Legion Post #141, Glenwood, Iowa.

I’m saddened to see this. My condolences to Neil, Danny and the rest of the family. I spent a lot of time hanging out at the Houser house and Don was always a welcoming and nice guy.
