Graveside services Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established.

Duane Frederick Jackson, 86, of Glenwood, Iowa, formerly of rural Pacific Junction, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 5, 2010 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born on Feb. 10, 1924 near Thurman, Iowa to Ralph Frederick and Leta Violet (Penney) Jackson. Duane graduated from Glenwood High School in 1941. He faithfully served his country during WWII as a Naval Radio Operator on the USS Takelma in the Pacific Theatre for the duration of the war. He was one of the participants on the 2009 Honor Flights to Washington D.C. of which he thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated.

Duane was united in marriage to Doris Anna Olson on Dec. 28, 1946 in Onawa, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Sandy, Lynn, Roger and Lori. Duane farmed and worked at the Gibson Feed and Produce prior to his employment with the Glenwood School District as a Maintenance Supervisor retiring after 22 years. Duane enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.

Preceding Duane in death were his parents, wife Doris in 2000 and brother-in-law, O’Dell Bowley. He is survived by his children, Sandy & husband Danny Benscoter of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; Lynn & wife Dee Ann Jackson of Glenwood, Iowa; Roger & wife Michele Jackson of Creston, Iowa; Lori Nosekabel of Glenwood, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren & looking forward to another arriving in March of 2011; brother, Max & wife Billie Jackson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sisters, Doris & husband Delmar Wiley of Fullerton, California; Wava Lou Bowley of Malvern, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.
