Beloved mother Emsie Belle Evans Hiley, 97, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Windsor Estates in Camdenton, Missouri, where she had resided for 6 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ray Eldon Hiley of Lenox, Iowa. Ray was the son of Wilda Ray and Bertha Anderson Hiley.
Emsie was the daughter of Artie Clell Evans and Pearl O’Neill Evans, who preceded her. She was born in Glenwood, Iowa where she resided until 1981, she and Ray then retired in Roach, Missouri. She was a lifetime, active, dedicated member of the Christian Church attending First Christian Church in Glenwood and the Community Christian Church in Camdenton, Missouri.
Emsie was a dedicated mother, raising her 5 sons in Glenwood. Ray and Emsie Hiley owned and operated the Hiley’s Glenwood Hatchery store on the square in Glenwood from 1949 until 1954. The business then moved to the north side of town and was renamed Hiley Feed and Milling. In 1959, Wayne and Alene Keith joined Ray and Emsie in the feed and milling business through 1962. When they left the business, Emsie and Ray worked at the State School until 1980 from which they retired to Roach, Missouri at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Surviving are four sons and their families: Phillip and Tonie Hiley of Roach, Missouri, Art and Lory Hiley of Belton, Texas, Eldon and Kim Hiley of Hye, Texas, and Timothy and Kathy Hiley of Windom, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by a fifth son Daniel Hiley whose wife survives, Janice Hiley of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She is also survived by 19 Grandchildren: Davina Bruner, Paul Willard, Kimberly Hiley, Mark Hiley, Trina Willard, Matthew Hiley, Megan DiTeresa, Erin Jas, Charis Hiley, Amber Gauna, Grant Hiley, Trey Ernst, Kristin Granado, Raymond Ernst, Jason Hiley, Brent Hiley, Trevor Hiley, Amanda Hiley, Michael Hiley; and 23 Great-Grandchildren: Sierra Warlen, Miles Bruner III, Julianna Rotskoff, Isaac Rotskoff, Tayler Hiley, Braden Hiley, Zaila Willard, Matthew DiTeresa, Anthony DiTeresa, Tristan Vasquez, Trinity Vasquez, Avery Vasquez, Nicholas Jas, Luke Jas, Cade Hiley, Aubree Guana, Hadlee Guana, Briley Ernst, Kacelyn Ernst, Carter Hiley, Elena Hiley, Ian Hiley, and Cooper Hiley.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary; 212 S. Locust St. in Glenwood, Iowa. The service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church 202 N. Vine St. in Glenwood. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hiley Park through Glenwood Kiwanis C/O Barb Mass, Kiwanis Treasurer; 53447 300th Street Silver City, IA. 51571.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.
