Fred Kuhl, Jr., son of Harry Fred and Beulah Florence (Lee) Kuhl, entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2017, at his home near Pacific Junction, Iowa, having attained the age of 99 years, 1 month and 19 days. Fred was a lifetime resident of Mills County and, following graduation from high school, held many jobs, including truck driving, farming, laying concrete, owning and operating a gas station, school bus driving as well as being employed at Roth Packing, Glenwood Pack, and Glenwood Resource Center. He was a faithful member of First Christian Church, was a member of I O O F, and held various officer positions at Woodmen Life, R S V P and the Glenwood Senior Center.
He was united in marriage to Kathryn Buckingham on January 21, 1938 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union four children were born; Dixie, Nancy, Harry and Timothy.
Kathryn passed away on June 22, 1998. In 2000, Fred married Roberta Hockabout in Glenwood, Iowa. She passed away in 2009. Fred enjoyed keeping busy and continued to be active in church and various organizations.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wives: Kathryn and Roberta; daughter, Nancy Waller; sisters: Luella Kuhl and Viola Buckingham, brothers; James Kuhl and Harry Kuhl; son-in-law Thomas Fritz.
Survivors include children: Dixie Fritz of New Market, Iowa; Harry (Deanna) Kuhl of Glenwood, Iowa; Timothy (Karla) Kuhl of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son-in-law Stanley Waller of Red Oak, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; sisters: Thelma Lenz and Mary Corey of Des Moines, Iowa and brother: Norman (Claudia) Kuhl of Ridgeway, Missouri, other relatives and many friends. The family extends special thanks to caregiver Christy and AseraCare Hospice.
Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
