Gary Max Vinton, 85 of Malvern, Iowa formerly of Tabor, Iowa passed away July 7, 2024 in Glenwood, Iowa after an extended illness. He was born June 14, 1939 in Tabor to Max Eugene and Carolyn Edith (Cunningham) Vinton. Gary and his sisters shared many great memories of growing up north of Tabor. He graduated from Tabor High School in 1957 and was senior class president. Gary was known for having the best cars and he was quite a dancer, traveling to dance halls around the area with friends and family. After high school, Gary attended a technical school in Omaha. In 1961, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in London, England working in top security communications. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and returned to Tabor where he worked at the Tabor Bank.
In 1966, Gary was united in marriage to Marsha Alexander and to this union three daughters were born, Amy, Shelly and Jennifer. Gary and his dad worked together and expanded farming and raising cattle into Vinton Feedlots, where they worked for many years. The farm holds great memories for everyone, especially his girls. He was later employed at ECI in Glenwood where he worked on several farm programs and was a Tech Support Specialist until his retirement.
Gary was united in marriage to Linda Stacy Burgoin on February 24, 1996. Linda’s girls, Stacy and Jennifer, now joined the family. Gary loved family gatherings! He enjoyed many Father’s Day picnics at the Glenwood Park and Christmas at the Lied Center in Nebraska City, along with Sunday dinners with his girls. Raising his daughters (and their friends), attending their sporting events and annual family vacations to Branson, were the highlights of those years. Later, he and Linda took many vacations checking out all the little towns they could find with Door County, Wisconsin being one of their favorite places. His unconditional love and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Gary in passing were his parents, Aunt Kathryn Miller, Uncle Marvin and Aunt Francis Vinton, and Janice Vinton. Survivors include his wife Linda Vinton of Malvern, Iowa; children Amy (Frank) Faust of Thurman, Iowa; Shelly (Danny) Wolfe of Tabor, Iowa; Jennifer Younts (David Bartles) of Randolph, Iowa; stepchildren Stacy (Rod) Burge of Sidney, Iowa; Jennifer (Don) Comer of New Market, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Patty (Marty) McCartney of Glenwood, Iowa; Karen (Harold) Holloway of Omaha; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family.

Don’t even know where to start, Gary meant so much to my sis Cheryl and I. He made the best steak and suppers. Yes, I ate alot of beef there. So many laughs about that. Cheryl and I have been reminiscing all day about this family. The fun we had spending the night with the Vinton girls. We love you all. We have so many great stories and memories. We loved him and we love you Amy, Shelly and Jennifer. RIP Mr. G. PRAYERS 🙏

Gary was certainly one of the best! I spent a lot of time at Gary’s house and he always made me feel welcome. The love he had for his daughters (and all of their friends) was just incredible. Gary had a huge heart and a contagious smile. Such a kind, gentle, and patient man- I know we tested those qualities a bit in high school 😊 My thoughts and prayers to his family!
