INTERMENT: Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa
Jack Paul Glen Lidgett, 72 of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on September 5, 2007 in Omaha, NE. He was born Dec. 26, 1934 in Glenwood, Iowa to Clarence & Pauline (Hosmeyer) Lidgett.
Jack was the youngest of eight children and helped his brothers farm after his father passed away. He faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1952-55 on the U.S.S. Ulvert M. Moore and was a Cee Bee for several years. He married his sweetheart, Shirley Arlene Gibson on March 9, 1954 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born, Cindy, Debbie and Tammy.
In his younger years, Jack had a lot of fun cruising in his 1934 Ford with Galen. The two of them would crawl across the Plattsmouth bridge to avoid the nickel toll. He had a great passion for cars and working on them. He also loved to sit on the bank of any body of water and fish. It didn’t matter if he caught anything or not, he still enjoyed the peaceful reflection on the water. His grandson Nicholas caught the fishing bug from his grandpa and the two had many special times which will always be treasured. Jack was the rock and hero of the family. His strong work ethic, great humor and wise advice to his family was always appreciated. He never judged anyone for their actions, but if he thought his son-in-laws were out of line, he could quickly put them in check. He was a wonderful man and provider for his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding Jack in death were his parents, 2 sisters and 5 brothers. His is survived by his loving family, wife Shirley Lidgett of Council Bluffs, IA; daughters, Cindy & husband Tim Tilley of Council Bluffs, IA; Debbie Lidgett and fianc̩ Ron McCoy of Elkhorn, NE: Tammy & husband Dan Abdouch of Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren, Melissa, Shelli, Nick, Brittney and Matthew; 6 great-grandchildren, Tim, Gage, Kevin, Wesley, Josh, Lacey and peanut; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
