James A. “Jim” McManigal

James Alan “Jim” McManigal, 75 of Glenwood, Iowa entered into rest on August 10, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born November 27, 1941 in San Diego, California to Park Eldred and Marcia Blanche (Spencer) McManigal.

Jim was united in marriage to Cheryl Lynn Watson on September 19, 1964 in Rockport, Missouri. To this union two children were born, Marcia Lynn and Jeffrey James. Jim served in the National Guard for 20 years. He was employed with Western Electric for 41 years until his retirement. Jim not only gave of himself to his family and friends during his life but continued to give even after his passing by donating his organs to continue to help others.

Preceding Jim in passing were his parents and siblings, Marilee Ramsbacker, Patricia Berray, Park McManigal, Jr., Peggy Gordon and Larry McManigal. Survivors include his wife Cheryl of Glenwood, Iowa; children, Marcia Lynn (Scott) Smith of Omaha, Nebraska; Jeffrey James (Robin) McManigal of Lithia, Florida; grandchildren, Alex (Morgan) Heard; Aaron Heard; Madison McManigal and Riley McManigal; step-grandchildren, Will Smith, Elliott Smith and Zoe Smith; siblings, Elise (Dick) Patterson of San Diego, California; Barbara Carter of Auburn, California; Janet Benscoter of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Jack (Pat) McManigal of Glenwood, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.

There will be military rites immediately following the service by the Harvey T. Rimel Post #141 Glenwood American Legion. Refreshments will follow at the Glenwood Senior Center. Interment will be held at a later date in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Disabled Veterans.
