Janice Francis (Horton) Johnson Vinton, 84 of Glenwood, IA formerly of rural Malvern, IA entered into rest on Aug. 2, 2014 in Glenwood, IA. She was born on Feb. 3, 1930 in Council Bluffs, IA to Milton & Margaret Alzino (Haney) Horton. She was raised in Glenwood where she completed her high school education. She was united in marriage to Merrill Luther Johnson in Glenwood, IA. To this union four sons were born; Lee, Max, Wesley & Eric. Janice was employed with Rich Maher Law Firm for many years and enjoyed working on estates and bookkeeping for the firm. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, hunting, reading, crocheting, was a fabulous cook and loved being with her family. Janice was united in marriage to Max Eugene Vinton on Dec. 11, 1976. They spent many wonderful years together until his passing on Feb. 3, 2008.
Preceding Janice in death were her parents, siblings, infant son Wesley Scott Johnson & husband Max Vinton. Survivors include her sons, Lee Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; Max Johnson of Tabor, IA; Eric & wife Leida Johnson of Glenwood, IA: Max’s children, Gary & wife Linda Vinton of Malvern, IA; Patricia & husband Marty McCartney of Glenwood, IA; Karen & husband Harold Halloway of Omaha, NE; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; extended relatives and many friends.
Inurnment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery on Aug. 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

So saddened to read of Jan’s passing. She was a special person, always smiling and pleasant to work with. My sympathy to the entire family.
I was privileged to know Jan! She was a lovely lady who always had a smile on her face when I saw her. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. God Bless you all!
