Jeretta “Jerri” Ann (Wilson) Stivers, 67, of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into eternal rest at her home on Aug. 25, 2009. She was one of eleven children of Vernie and Opal May Belle (Bailor) Wilson Stotts and was born in Pacific Junction, Iowa on Jan. 23, 1942. She graduated from Pacific Junction High School in 1959.
Jerri was united in marriage to Donald L. Stivers of Glenwood, on Dec. 25, 1959 and continued residing in Glenwood. To this union five children were born, Rick, Randy, Rod, Teresa and Reggie. Jerri enjoyed being a homemaker and all of the activities that her family took part in. She loved attending their sporting events, music and dancing programs and continued her interests as a grandmother as well. Once her family was raised, Jerri became a resident treatment worker for the Glenwood Resource Center for 23 years, retiring on July 6, 2006 and looked forward to spending more time with her family.
Jerri enjoyed attending Glenwood sporting events with her son Reggie and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She showed her love through cooking and had a secret recipe for her famous “Hot Spaghetti” and enjoyed sharing her banana cookies with friends and others in the community. She was a fan of Elvis and remained a loyal supporter of the Rams and Hawkeyes. Jerri never met a stranger and could visit and befriend anyone. Her warm and caring nature made people feel very comfortable. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and dearly loved her family. On May 30, 2007, Jerri was diagnosed with cancer and fought a courageous battle until she was called home to be with the Lord on Aug. 25, 2009 having attained the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 2 days.

Aunt Jeri deffinatley had angels watching over her and taking care of her at home. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Hugs all around.
We love you all. Call or tx if you need anything.
I worked with Jerri at the Glenwood State School years ago. She was a joy to work with and always happy. I enjoyed her cooking and friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
We have all lost a dear friend. I haveknown all of Jeretta’s family and was classmate of three of her brothers and her sister Marie. Jeretta graduated with my brother. She was such a caring thoughtful person and will surely be missed by all who knew her. Heartfelt sympathy to her family and to you Don, who was so good to her and especially these last two very difficult years. May you find peace and comfort knowing that you did everything possible for her.~~~Pat Mercer, Emerson, Iowa
Rick: My deepest condolences to you and your family in your mom’s passing. My thoughts are with you.
My mother was truly my best friend and had a big caring heart which she always put everyone elses needs before her own.She was such a caring thoughtful person to everyone she met.She loved and cared deeply about the people that lived in and around the commuities of Glenwood and Pacific Junction. My mom also thought very highly of the Glenwood Fire & Rescue. It was truly a great honor to be able to care and serve her needs these past two difficult years. Teresa & Dad gave her the best care ever possible and I’m forever grateful for that.Cousins Terri, Regina,Bobbi and Jeannie thanks for helping and caring for her when we needed you!! Thanks to the rest of the families and friends for the visits and support. It was hard to let her go, but we know she has went on to heaven to be with her family and friends. She will probably cook that famous “Hot Spaghetti” and sharing her banana cookies! Love ya “MoM”…. Rick
I grew up across the street from Jerri in Pacific Junction, Ia. We were 5 years old when we started to school together. She never really had a dad that she knew, so my father Amil Hillhouse was her surrogate father. Also my grandparents on both sides Miller & Hillhouse and my aunts and uncles quickly became her family also. We spent hours talking and laughing about some of the fun things we did as kids. Later in life we both married and raised 7 children. This December 25th
would have been her and Don’s golden anniversary. She was really looking forward to celebrating that with husband Don.
I will really miss her. If I would call her she would say “I was just thinking about you” the same went for me if she called me. We had a very special bond and there will never be anyone who can replace her in my life. I have been gone from the Malvern-Glenwood area for 31 years, however when I would come back to visit her we seemed to pick up right where we left off. I am happy that she is not in such pain any more. I miss her so much. She will forever dwell in my heart.
Loved her very much,
Bon (La Vonna Hillhouse) Stevens
