Joan Elaine Reinert, 77 of Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly of Glenwood, Iowa was born April 26, 1945 to Randel Ernest and Helen Luella (Niemoller) Reinert in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She passed away August 3, 2022 in Council Bluffs, Iowa after a courageous battle with cancer. She has donated her remains to UNMC in hopes to find a cure to help others.
Joan was raised in Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1963. She was employed with Northwestern Bell in the Collections Department. Joan enjoyed working in her yard, playing cards, antiquing, family dinners and loved going out to eat, especially to the Bohemian Café and Joe Tess’s. Her travels took her to California, Europe, Canada and Mexico.
Preceding Joan in passing were her parents, sister Roberta Dashner, brother Dwayne Reinert, brothers-in-law Dan Hiley and Merlynn Bintz. Survivors include her siblings Eldred Reinert of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Carolyn Bintz of Avoca, Iowa; Gordon (Karen) Reinert of Glenwood, Iowa; Janice Hiley of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister-in-law Waunita Reinert of Silver City, Iowa; nieces and nephews Dwight Bintz, Denise (Ron) Nihsen, Dee (Ben) Fischer, Diane (Don) Mills, Tim (Lisa) Reinert, Ty (Susan) Reinert, Trent (Dawn) Reinert, Trisha (Mark) Mankin, Justin Dashner, Jill Dashner (Jeff Schlobaum), Steph (Terry) Colpitts, Jaime (Mike) Kuehn, Karie (Jeremy) Givens, Jason (Susie) Hiley, Brent (Diane) Hiley, special friends Chris and Sherrill Dashner, cousin Francine Rueber of California and many friends.
As you recall Joan would always say this quote at the end of a conversation, “And That’s The Way It Is”
Interment, Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa at a later date.
Memorial donations may be directed to AseraCare Hospice or Midlands Living Center.

Joan was our neighbor and always enjoyed a cocktail on the back deck with her. Heaven has gained a classy women and she will be missed by many. Prayers for her family during this time.
