Joy Janet (McQueen) Belt, 86 of Glenwood, Iowa entered into rest on March 17, 2017 in Glenwood, Iowa. She was born February 6, 1931 in Modale, Iowa to Vernon Charles & Maude (Alexander) McQueen. She was united in marriage to Melvin Alfred Belt on April 19, 1948 in Hiawatha, Kansas. To this union five children were born, Paul, Steven, Linda, Roger and Thomas.
Joy was an assistant manager at Place’s and Pamida, as well as keeping books for Mel’s Auto Body Shop. She had a passion for gardening and could identify all flowers. Joy loved to feed the birds and squirrels on her deck, taking walks at the nature trails and going on Sunday drives through the countryside. She saw beauty in all of nature, something that she passed onto her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joy found pleasure in sewing clothes and embroidering pillow cases. While she liked many things, her greatest joy came from being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Preceding Joy in passing were her parents, husband and brother Vernon “Buzz” Charles McQueen, Jr. Survivors include her children, Paul Belt (Cheryl) of Cantonment, Florida, Steven Belt (Sally) of Phoenix, Arizona, Linda Barbour (late, Ed) of Glenwood, Iowa, Roger Belt (Shawn) of Glenwood, Iowa, Tom Belt (Arlene) of Glenwood, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
