Kathleen Luella “Katie” Asmussen, 85, of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest on Sept. 3, 2010 in Glenwood, Iowa. She was born Oct. 6, 1924 near Elijah, Missouri to Virgil & Dora Ellen (Burleson) Dean.
Katie was united in marriage to Kenneth Asmussen on Feb. 25, 1940 in Rockport, Missouri. They were blessed with three children, Keith, Kent and Kathy Jo. Katie was a distributor for the Omaha World Herald for 17 years. She was a 62 year member of the First Christian Church in Glenwood and a 50 year member of the Pythian Sisters. Katie loved taking care of her flower beds and decorating outside for the holidays. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who adored holding all babies she came in contact with.
Preceding Katie in death were her parents, Virgil and Dora Dean and brother Earl Dean. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Kenneth Asmussen of Glenwood, Iowa; children, Keith & wife Dianna Asmussen of Encinitas, California; Kent Asmussen of Papillion, Nebraska; Kathy Jo & husband Tom Bussey of Glenwood, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Eric and Joel Asmussen; Mindy Saak, Shawn Asmussen, Ashley Asmussen, RaChel Beardmore, Marcey Darmento, Daniel Greenwood; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; extended relatives and a host of friends.

I waould like to personally extend my condolences to you all. Katie was such a nice person, and I feel blessed to have known her. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
