Kevin was born September 2, 1969 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Stephen Wayne and Sherrill Kay (Reisner) Bomer.  He grew up in rural Glenwood and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1988. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1988 and served four years as a boiler technician. He visited many different countries all over the world, and met some lifelong friends. He was honorably discharged in 1992.

Kevin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Michelle Lynn VandeVoorde on June 30, 2001 in Glenwood, Iowa.  They have four children and three grandchildren who loved their “Baca.” Kids: Layna, Tom, Hillary and Devon.  Grandkids: Deagan, Berkley, and Zach. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved ATV riding, camping, and tractor pulls. Kevin was passionate about watching the Iowa Hawkeyes or Dallas Cowboys. He was a founding member of, “The Liars Club” which met weekly.

Kevin was a larger-than-life kind of person. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew and loved him. He never met a stranger and had a huge heart. He enjoyed spending time mentoring many throughout the years and had a lasting impact on them. Kevin was a broad muscular guy, but he had the biggest heart. When I think of Bomer, I instantly smile. He knew how to love life and was a friend of all. Fun guy that knew how to compete as a champion in track and cc. He gave a coach gray hair but lots of championships.
