Kristine (Krogstad) Sigvartsen

Kristine Ellen Krogstad Sigvartsen, 36, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Glenwood, Iowa, entered into rest on July 4, 2011 in Pacific Junction, Iowa. She was born March 25, 1975 in Roseburg, Oregon. Kristy was raised by her parents, Jack & Nancy Krogstad and attended Glenwood schools through her high school graduation. She graduated from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan with a degree in mathematics. During her college years she spent a year attending Newbold College in Bracknell, England and a summer living in Spain where she was able to be totally immersed in studying the culture and language of the country. Her passion for languages was very evident as she took on the challenge of learning not only Spanish but also Norwegian, Hebrew & Arabic.

Kristy married Jan Age Sigvartsen, from Drammen, Norway. Together they spent two years living in Jerusalem, Israel where they both studied at Hebrew University. They also spent one summer working near Amman, Jordan as part of an archeological team that was digging in ancient ruins. A number of years after returning to the United States, their marriage ended in divorce. Kristy worked as a computer software consultant for several years in South Bend, Indiana before relocating to Omaha where she took science classes at Creighton University and worked as a part-time research consultant. She was a co-author with her professors on several research papers.

Kristy had a wide range of interests, which included scuba diving, ice skating, motorcycling, snowboarding, yoga, knitting, ballet and ballroom dancing.

Kristy is survived by her parents Jack & Nancy Krogstad, brother Brian Krogstad, grandfather Chester Krogstad, special friend Mike Poloncic, many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

I loved Kristy with every fiber of my existence. There hasn’t been a day since the first day I met her that she has not been thought of. So sorry to hear of this news and my thoughts and prayers are now with her family to heal from this loss.

I studied with Kristine in Spain, and at Andrews University, kept in touch while she and Jan were in Israel, watched their place for them when she went to a friend’s wedding in Canada. I am so saddened to hear Kristy is no longer with us and look forward to seeing her again in heaven. She had a beautiful kind giving heart, orderly habits, and so much to offer. I am sad to hear that she and Jan Age divorced as well…it must have been heartbreaking to her as she adored him. She spoke so fondly of you, her parents, so grateful to God that you had adopted her and raised her in a good home with love. She was so calm, peaceful, kind. I must admit I wonder what could have happened to such a beautiful person so young. It must be very difficult for you to have lost her……you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Kristy when she lived in Michigan. She instantly became my sister. I miss her voice and her smile. She was a good soul. I miss you sister and love you.
