Larry Lee Hayes

Larry Lee Hayes, 86 of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at his home following a brief illness. Larry was born February 21, 1938 in Silver City Iowa to Cecil and Marie (Bryant) Hayes. Larry grew up in Silver City, Iowa and graduated from Silver City High School in 1956.

Larrry married Sharon May at East Liberty Church in Malven, Iowa on November 24, 1957. Larry was employed at Kenworth in Omaha, Nebraska and retired after many years of employment there. Larry enjoyed tinkering around in his garage, restoring old cars, fishing, kayaking and going on trips, especially to South Dakota. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, daughter Sheila, son-in-law Dan Hill, brother Lyndoe “Bud” and brother-in-law Jack May.

He is survived by his son Lonnie (Melinda) Hayes, daughter Susan (Willy) Corrin; grandsons J.J. (Angie) Golka, Jason Golka, Jesse (Karissa) Corrin, Daniel (Jenna) Corrin; great-grandchildren J.T., Rose, James, John, Adaline and Sutton; sister Janice Fager, sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Mark) Nightser and Mary May; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Memorial donations have been designated to St. Paul’s Evangelical Country Church, 11055 Dumfries Avenue, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503
