Larry Ray Eichelberger passed away August 29, 2022. He was born September 12, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Ray & Carol Eichelberger. Larry grew up on a farm outside Glenwood, Iowa with two younger sisters; Kay, born in 1950 & Elaine, born in 1952. Growing up, Larry helped his father raise crops & livestock on the farm.
In 1966, Larry graduated from Glenwood Senior High School, but not before he met his future wife, Penny Scroggs, on the school bus. Larry & Penny were married February 3, 1968 and blessed with three children, Barbara Ann in 1968, Kenneth Ray in 1970 and Matthew Larry in 1978. Larry worked at the Glenwood Resource Center as a power plant operator for over 30 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a lifelong resident of Mills County and resided there until 2020 when he and Penny moved to a farm in rural Elliott, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Penny, children; Barbara Boston of Coin, Iowa, Kenneth (Robin) Eichelberger of Bellevue, Nebraska and Matthew Eichelberger of Elliott, Iowa. His seven beloved grandchildren; Shelby Boston, Nicholas Boston, Alexia Eichelberger, Logan Eichelberger, Tucker Eichelberger, Abbie Jo Eichelberger and Dakota Ring and two cherished great grandchildren; Everleigh Jane Rea and Everhett Graham Allen Rea. His sister Kay (Linus) LeFever of Glenwood, Iowa and Elaine (Larry) Olson of Colorado Springs Colorado; sisters in law Laura Graves of Clarinda, Iowa, Peggy Webb of Glenwood, Iowa and Pam (Mike) Chambers of Clarinda, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ray M. Eichelberger Jr & Marion Carol (Hammers) Eichelberger, uncle Kenneth (Bud) Hammers, sister in law Melissa Stroud and nephew Andrew Stroud.
Interment to be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
