Larry Warren Kruse, 82 of Glenwood, Iowa entered into eternal rest at his home on August 7, 2022. Larry was born on November 8, 1939 in Glenwood, Iowa, the second of four children born to LeRoy John and Lorraine Elizabeth (Stone) Kruse. He lived in the Glenwood area most of his life and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1957. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a life long active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood.
Larry attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska; Tarkio College, Tarkio Missouri and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri in 1965. While attending high school in Glenwood and later while attending college, he worked for Slix Drug Store, Ben Franklin Dime Store, Nelson’s Dairy, Buffington Motors, Davis Market and Gaylord Market. Larry joined the Iowa National Guard, Co. I, 168th Infantry, 34th Division in Glenwood when he was 16 years old and ultimately spent over thirty years with that unit.
Larry met his future bride, Peggy Jo Close, when they were both attending Northwest Missouri State college. They married at St. Oswald’s Episcopal Church in rural Skidmore, Missouri on October 30, 1965. They lived in Kansas City, Missouri for two years where he was employed by Mobil Oil Corporation. They relocated to Glenwood in 1967 where Larry was employed by Glenwood Resource Center for 35 years as Business Manager and then promoted to Assistant Superintendent.
Larry’s civic duties include serving on the Glenwood Board of Mills County Savings & Loan, Glenwood City Board of Adjustment, Glenwood City Council, Glenwood City Tree Board, Board of Directors for On With Life in Glenwood and a Trustee for Lyons Township.
Larry and Peggy were blessed with two sons, David Warren Kruse, born April 1, 1970 and Brian Keith Kruse born July 31, 1971 as well as grandchildren Alex Kruse, Riley Kruse and Hannah Kruse all of Omaha, Nebraska. Larry is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, brothers Richard (Jean) Kruse of New Berlin, Wisconsin; Jon (Donna) Kruse of Nebraska City, Nebraska; sister Sharon Kruse of Mesa, Arizona; extended relatives and many friends.
Interment, Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
Memorial donations may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Hello Lorna. 6-3-2023. I am reading my brother Larry obituary again. He passed over on August 7th 2022. Larry and I were like 2 peas in a pod. We were very close and I miss him to this day. When I was reading the nice word that his friends and family wrote I said well look at this note, this Lorna Schoening. I thought whether I should respond to you and hope you do not mind me emailing you. Thank you Lorna for your kind words about Larry and yes he was your patron yeas ago wasn’t he.
