Lois Anne Buckingham, of rural Pacific Junction died on July 23, 2023. Lois Anne was born March 16, 1931 on the family farm north of Glenwood, Iowa to her parents Harvey and Mae Schoening. Lois Anne graduated from Glenwood High School in 1948 and then shortly thereafter began to attend college to become a teacher. She met and eventually married her husband Steve in 1951. Steve was called up for service during the Korean Conflict and at that point Steve and Lois decided to make the military his career. Steve and Lois Anne were stationed in Puerto Rico, Michigan, Ohio, Florida and Bellevue during his military career. In 1970, Steve and Lois realized a lifelong dream by returning to Mills County. Lois Anne worked as a teacher for several years at Glenwood and retired from teaching at West Elementary.
Lois Anne is preceded in death by her husband Steve, parents Harvey and Mae, sister June, daughter Deborah and great granddaughter Autumn Grace. She is survived by her daughter Marcia (Gorham), son Stephen Mark (Teresa), brother Don, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, many nieces and nephews.
Interment, Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.
Memorial donations may be directed to: Trinity Lutheran Church or Dollars For Scholars in Lois’s name.

So very sorry for your family’s loss. Lois Anne was one of the most genuine people you would ever meet. Always with a smile and love in her heart. I know you all will miss her greatly.

We are so sorry to hear about Lois. She was one of our favorite people. It was always so nice to visit with her. She was so very proud of her children and grand children, and always inquired about our family and how everyone was and what they were doing. Such a lovely lady. She will be missed.
