Louise Mendenhall, 86, of Pacific Junction, IA, entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2006 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born January 18, 1920 in Mapleton, IA to Claude & Grace (Dixon) Myler. She was united in marriage to LaVern Walter Mendenhall on October 28, 1938 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Louise was a member of First Congregational U.C.C. in Glenwood, Dorcas Society and Rebekah Lodge. She was employed with Frito Lay before moving to Glenwood and was a cook for the Glenwood School System for many years. She loved her grandchildren and always had homemade cookies for them as well as anyone who stopped by to see her. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening, cooking for her family, embroidery, playing bingo and she was a big Nascar fan. Her family shared that she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to each and every one of them and she will be greatly missed.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, LaVern Mendenhall, Jr., brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Juanita & husband Byron Brown of Savannah, GA; Darlene Brainard of Ft. Worth, TX; Linda & husband Gordon Dean of Glenwood, IA; Kathy & husband Mike Bruce of Pacific Junction, IA; Rodney Mendenhall of Pacific Junction, IA; and his special friend Wilma Morgan of St. Joseph, MO; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Paul & wife Rose Myler of Missouri Valley, IA; sister-in-law: Emma Jean Myler of Magnolia, IA; brother-in-law: Don B. Thomas of Papillion, NE; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
