Marian Rupe

Memorials may be made to the Pacific Junction Emergency Services or Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood, Iowa.

Interment will be in the Martin Chapel Cemetery, Pacific Junction, Iowa.

Ethel Marian Rupe, 93, of Pacific Junction, Iowa, entered into eternal rest at her home in Pacific Junction on Sept. 29, 2009. She was born Sept. 6, 1916 to John Walter, Jr. and Clara Marie (Swanson) Nelson in Oak Park, Illinois. Marian graduated from Essex High School in 1935. Her father’s employment took the family to Pacific Junction where she met her future husband, Hobert Franklin Rupe. The couple united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1939 in Rockport, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Dick, Hobie and Sandy.

Marian enjoyed being a homemaker and also assisted her husband in the bar they owned in Pacific Junction for many years. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would often be seen with them riding her bicycle and continued to ride into her later years as well. In her earlier years she loved to fish and was also an avid sports enthusiast. Marian was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood.

Preceding Marian in death were her parents, husband in 1971, grandson, Sam Rupe, brothers, Ralph and John Nelson and sister Arlene Arns. She is survived by her children, Dick & Peg Rupe of Pacific Junction, Iowa; Hobie & Judy Rupe of Glenwood, Iowa; Sandy & Pete Peterson of Lake City, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Boan of Overland Park, Kansas; sister-in-laws, Myrna & husband Bernard Harless of Pacific Junction, Iowa; Eileen Rupe of Glenwood, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a host of friends.

Marian was as I always called her “my second mother”. I think growing up with Sandi, I spent as much time in their home as my own. I have so many fond memories as our families did so many things together. She was a great cook and always remember the angel food cakes for Sandi’s birthdays. I loved her and will miss her as will all who knew her.~~~~~Pat Mercer

The Rupe family is the thoughts and prayers of the whole Stouder family. Jackie and Jill we will always have the great memories of grandma Marian and her smiles. She is at peace now and is watching over everyone.

I remember when I was just a young girl living down the street from Marian. She’d ride by on her bicycle and say a friendly hello. She was always so good to us kids and to everyone around her.

I will keep you all in my prayers as you grieve. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.

    Cody
