Marjorie Mae Stone, 86, of Glenwood, IA entered into rest on June 11, 2014 at Hospice With Heart in Glenwood. She was born May 8, 1928 in Glenwood, IA to Herby & Ethel Hammer. Marge graduated from Glenwood High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Duane Hubert Stone on July 20, 1946. To this union five children were born, Steven, Susan, Dennis, Kevin & Lisa. She enjoyed raising her family and was always taking good care of them and making sure they had good home cooked meals and snacks. In the 1970’s Marge owned a ceramic shop on the southwest side of the square. She later worked at the Glenwood Veterinary Clinic for 18 years & then the Glenwood State Bank for many years until her retirement. Duane and Marge enjoyed traveling with the Heritage Club and loved to dance. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage until Duane passed away on Dec. 11, 2008.
Marge enjoyed attending the First Christian Church in Glenwood. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Marge in death were her parents, husband, brothers, Max Hammer and Harold Roy Hammer. Survivors include her children, Steven & wife Cathy Stone of Glenwood, IA; Susan & husband Dennis Lincoln of Pacific Junction, IA; Dennis & wife Linda Stone of Lewes, DE; Kevin Stone of Glenwood, IA; Lisa & husband Marty Stivers of Glenwood, IA; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth & wife Jonnie Hammer of Glenwood, IA; sister-in-law, Joan Hammer of Glenwood, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives & many friends.
Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Hospice With Heart or Glen Haven Home.
